Being Freshly Pressed was pretty exciting, I admit. It never occurred to me when I started this blog that anyone would actually read it, and for a long time it was just me recounting my various disasters to myself. I was cool with that. But then I started looking around WordPress and found that there were really amazing bloggers out there, and my network expanded with the help of a certain Le Clown you may have heard of. That dude is everywhere.
And when I was Freshly Pressed, I was pressed with friends, including the Ringmistress, and that was amazing.
I am glad that this little corner of the blogosphere that Le Clown created is getting recognition, because there are some really wonderful writers, the atmosphere is festive, and everyone is terribly kind and supportive. My blog is starting to feel like a home where all my friends drop in, and it has added a whole new dimension to writing for me.
I am glad that being Freshly Pressed allowed me to widen my net a little bit and meet some new faces. I gained a few new followers yesterday and I am truly happy for that. But even better is to be able to peruse through all of your blogs (once my hands have uncramped from checking my stats every 30 seconds and my voice has recovered from all the gleeful squealing) and find more people to hang out with. So if you visited, thank you. I hope you stay and I hope we chat about good things.
As for my rut? Well, I struggled with putting it out there into the world, but now I am so glad I did. Knowing people have been there before and made it out is inspirational, and it feels better to unburden myself of it. Maybe this is the universe providing the nudge I need to get out.
And now because I can’t maintain serious sentiment for a long time and I am awkward at endings, here is a picture of a really weird sea creature.

Congrats on being Freshly Pressed! It’s cool you got to share it with Le Clown and the Ringmistress. Great job!! That kind of takes you out of your rut, huh?
It’s definitely a good start! Nothing like a little validation to get you going. You were pressed too, right? I loved the hot air balloons.
Yes, Jen. Indeed, I was. We were on the same page, too! I think mine may have booted off Le Clown’s. I’m not sure about that! I’m enjoying it quite a bit! Thanks!
Congrats on the FP! I thought if was pretty f’ing amazing to see all three of you on the Fresh Press page.
Madame Weebles got pressed too recently, seems like something is up with the clown posse.
She did, and like everyone has said, it’s amazing that all these people weren’t pressed months ago. But, I also know that Le Clown, the Weebs, the Ringmistress would be successful bloggers even without the FP attention because they’re just too good.
Congratulations! I was rather giddy to see you all on FP I couldn’t believe it till I saw it with my own eyes!
I still don’t believe it, and I was rather giddy myself! Thank you.
It’s so fun to be FP’d with friends! When I was pressed, it was the day right after A Rich, Full Life was, so we were on the same page. Congratulations! Enjoy!
Emily,
Can you send me the link to your article that was FP’d? Or I could stop being lazy and head over your space to find it myself…

I like the first one better. It was pressed when C was three days old, so it has special meaning for me.
I think being FP’ed with a 3 day old newborn puts you in kind of a special Supermom category.
I’m so happy for all of you! Congratulations on being pressed, and I loved that post. The rut is all too common, but I’m glad you shared it. With all of you on one page, I’m surprised the server didn’t blow up from awesome!
Ha, thank you. I think the Robillomas family is going to blow up the wordpress servers with awesome all on their own one day.
Yep, I suspect it’s definitely a nudge towards moving out of that rut! When the Universe sends you a cool gift like that, it’s really fun to drink it in and know how cool you really are! And you really are! Love the sea dragon, BTW. Have seen them in aquariums but would love to go to the South Pacific and encounter one on a dive (for those of you who don’t know, it’s a kind of seahorse.) Congrats, again, RG!
Thank you Cathy! It was a much needed boost.
I saw that sea dragon at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, which is one of the best aquariums anywhere, in my opinion. They like to show all the animals in as close to their native habitat as possible and there’s no whale tricks. I could sit and stare at their deep sea exhibit for days. But I also agree that going to the south pacific to see one in situ would be way, way better!
I love the Monterey Bay Aquarium. I so agree that it is one of the best. The Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta is also amazing. They have Whale Sharks in their big tank. We got see them feeding – amazing process!
Congrats! I loved seeing y’all all on the freshly pressed page together. I was like, “Yeah those are my peeps. No big deal. They are all badass”.
By the way, that sea creature looks like snot and I am terrified of snot especially my own. I am going to run away from your blog now, but I’ll be back once that picture goes away.
Becca, I am sorry to say that I will probably gross you out with many pictures over time because I have a high tolerance for gross (I used to have dead birds and a snake in a jar of formaldehyde on my desk, surrounded by taxidermy that had some form of pestilence). But if you send me a list of your fears I will be sure to warn you.
Rollergiraffe,
Bad news. You will be stuck with me forever, especially if you start putting pictures of taxidermy on your blog… And yeah!!! Again! I really think we should start International Rollergiraffe Day! Or at least International Bloggers Who Are Awesome Day!
Oh, have I got a gem for you.. maybe one day I’ll make it a giveaway. I rescued it from the garbage heap when I worked for Fish and Wildlife.
I’d get behind International Bloggers who are Awesome Day if it means that bloggers all get to take the day off, free spa services and can demand back rubs from anyone. (Dibs on Jon Hamm).
Just no frogs please
.
Le Clown has lots of real live frogs. Did you know that?
I most certainly did not! I am going to have to have a word with him.
RG, you deserve this recognition and I’m so glad I started following you. Found you through Le Clown who is just all over the blogsophere spreading mischief and goodness. Have a wonderful weekend.
Thank you Brigitte, you are too kind. I owe that Clown a lot, I don’t even want to think about how I am going to have to repay him one day.
I hope you have a great weekend too!
Belated congratulations on your FP!
When they got me, they also got a few of the circle I run with. Fun all around!
Thank you Guapo! And I think this is your inaugural visit here, so let me just dust off the red carpet. Mind all the gum and .. whatever else that is on there, that shit is hard to get out.
I’ll just pretend it’s glitter.
Who doesn’t love being spackled in glitter?
It’s the herpes of the craft world.
Sorry I have not gotten around to congratulating you sooner, but I’m so glad for you! That was an excellent post — and it’s terrific that you were FP’ed in the company of friends.
Thank you V! Means much to me, coming from you.
I should at least take the time – however belated- to congratulate someone I put on my blogroll. Once again, I keep good company.
Curmudgeon! Why, I never. Thank you for the blogroll and the congratulations, no matter how belated. I know you keep a rigorous nap schedule and I would hate to disrupt from that.
